Raising the funds to

turn this issue around

When we got the telegrams so many years ago, most families of MIAs assumed that our government would do all that it could to find out what happened to our missing loved ones. We were wrong. Now, almost 50-years later, we are still looking for answers.

In the last 10 years, a collective effort has moved the Korean and Cold War POW/MIA issue from relative obscurity to a place at the table, so to speak. In the process we have learned that real progress, in the form of real answers, is going to take funding.

The Coalition has set three goals to help move the families’ accounting effort to the next level. The first goal is to raise money to hire a professional fund raiser/grant writer. This individual will then plan and implement a campaign to raise funds that will support the second and third goals. The second goal is to hire a representative in Washington, D.C. This individual will keep abreast of issues critical to the accounting effort, and educate the government, media and American public on those issues.

The third goal is to hire a professional researcher. The story of missing American servicemen lies untold in the four corners of the world. We cannot leave collection and analysis entirely to the government. We need the information ourselves, so we can frame the questions that will help drive the accounting effort. For nearly 50 years the government let the fate of our loved ones lie unresolved. The progress we have seen in the last 10 years is, in large part, the result of a determined effort by a relatively small group of people, nearly all of whom have worked without funding to support the issue. To move to the next level and find the answers we’re all looking for, we’re going to need money. Otherwise, both our work and the accounting effort might well fizzle to an end.

We ask those who can to please contribute to the Coalition’s first goal: hiring a fund raiser/grant writer. The Coalition is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions are tax deductible.
