Research and Declassification

    Mission Statement of this Section
  • Research and Declassification of Documents
Access to information is essential in bringing about a full accouting for American POW/MIAs. If we know what historical documents and intelligence reports contain, we are able to work with the Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) and other government offices in the accounting process.

Unfortunately, documents described by archivist Rich Boylan as the ‘juiciest stuff’ were not brought out until we were about ready to pack up and leave on our last day at NARA. We’ll review those documents on another visit.
